Multimedia | Regional Environmental Sustainability in the Middle East

Aug, 30 2013

In the summer of 2013, 10 Columbia University students joined 5 students from the Porter School of Environmental Studies on a two week educational trip to Jordan and Israel. The purpose of the trip was to show students how the environment could be used as a tool for peace-building. Led by Columbia professor Beth Fisher-Yoshida, students learned about the environmental issues in the region and the efforts these two countries are making to manage shared resources in the face of social and political conflict. The program was developed in partnership with The Earth Institute, Columbia Global Centers ? Middle East, and the Porter School of Environmental Studies at Tel Aviv University.
